Music Composer, Sankarshan Kini traveled extensively in Arunachal Pradesh in 2014 and made an album of six fusion tracks – each for a specific tribe. This album, titled ‘Enchantation – A Tribal Music Experiment’ was created to share the tribal music of Arunachal with the rest of the world. And this is the music video I made for ‘Jahe Chole’, the title track of this album.

With a desire to tell a story from Kini’s perspective, I wanted to recreate his interactions with the people and spaces of Arunachal Pradesh. And since this particular track belongs to the Nocte tribe, I restricted our filming to only Nocte people and their habitat. Our skeletal crew traveled through the villages of the Deomali region, home of the Nocte tribe and we filmed as we went along. Being a song about harvest, we recreated a harvest sequence as well.
